Sekenani Camp

Sekenani Camp offers an authentic bush experience for travelers wishing to get close to nature.

It is situated at the source of Sekenani River offering a serene environment in which to relax, unwind and enjoy all the Masai Mara has to offer.

It consists of 15 magnificently well-designed tents situated well apart to ensure maximum privacy and each tent has a wooden floor and en-suite bathroom complete with a full-length bathtub.

A combination of luxury and adventure, Sekenani Camp invites you to experience the Mara.

The camp is set beyond the reach of the national grid and all other facilities. Electric power is produced with a generator which is turned off in the evening after the last guest has gone to bed in order not like to disturb the animals at night and most importantly to make sure that the guests acquire goodnights sleep.

However, the tents continue to have electric power all night by means of an inverter system just in case you need to get up during the night.

The refrigeration in the camp is powered by solar panels. The camp is proud that the ice served at their bar is made by using the sun’s energy and it is doing its utmost best to be as eco-friendly as possible.

The tents are separated from the restaurant and bar by a suspension bridge across the Sekenani River, and in such a way to ensure complete privacy.

The public areas are in a large tent-like structure with canvas sides which are rolled up during the day well as during the evenings, a campfire on the veranda is the focal point for guests who enjoy drinks and exchange stories before dinner.

However, internet access is also available at the camp! The bar stocks a wide range of international and local brands while the kitchen produces delicious fresh meals with many ingredients harvested from the camp’s own organic vegetable garden.

The garden is not only a source of fresh vegetables for the camp’s consumption but it also serves as an example to its community of what can be grown locally.

Since inception meticulous attention has been paid to maintaining the environment, each tent was carefully sited such that from no tent can one see any other tent.

This approach to privacy has earned Sekenani camp a reputation for being one of the most romantic destinations and accommodation in the Maasai Mara national reserve.

The camp has been recognized by the Eco Tourism Society of Kenya and other environmental agencies for its continuous effort to maintain a pristine environment and to have the minimum possible impact in the course of its operations.

The staff is excellent whose diligence in the care of its guests compares with the finest hotels in the world.

The camp is so proud to have the highest proportion of staff engaged from the local community and pride itself with having excellent staff accommodation and recreational facilities.
